Wow Chinese is an educational book series and app created by Kenek AI to make it easier for learners to remember 1,800+ Chinese characters.
The first book in the series is over 140 pages and covers 72 Chinese characters.
For our kids. We find our kids quickly losing interests and struggling to remember the various Chinese characters.
Our kids wanted a book and app with memorable illustrations that would help them remember all the different Chinese characters. In addition, they also requested that it be fun.
We searched a lot of places for this mythical book --- Amazon, Taobao, Ebay, etc. But, we couldn't find one that fulfilled all their requests.
Finally, we decided to use our Machine Learning and Generative AI expertise to create one ourselves. The result is the Wow Chinese educational book series and app.
Firstly, We are going back to the roots of the language and presenting each Chinese character as a unique illustration.
Secondly, We worked hard to make our illustrations attractive and memorable.
We give one illustration per Chinese character, no need to remember how the different elements combined to form a meaning.
Reading Chinese is challenging, especially for beginners.
It gets even trickier with the different tones and tonal changes based on certain grammatical structures.
Our book has pinyin with green arrows which show the tonal changes. As far as we know, we're the first book and app to show both non-modified and modified tones simultaneously..
- A writing exercise that uses a unique grid system that was developed by us after implementing stroke analysis and machine learning method to devised the most optimal grid for writing Chinese.
- A matching exercise to match the words to images.
- A pinyin exercise to let learners fill in the blank and remember the pinyin.
- A coloring page to provide a change of scenery and let learners enjoy the beauty of Chinese characters.
- A word search where learners will have to find the correct Chinese characters hidden in an image.
Our main target are all children that are around the same age as our kids - between 5 to 9 for the first book.
In addition, as the book is designed to enhance people's understanding of each Chinese character, it is therefore suitable for new learners and adult learners who want to improve their Chinese.
Beside the book series, we are also developing the Wow Chinese language app which will be suitable for all ages.
We're making the book for our kids and since we live in Singapore, we decided to base it on the education system here.
Singapore education ranks highly in the world and we figure that it's a good start.
